This calorie calculator is a useful tool that calculates the number of calories that you burn in a day. It does this by combining your Basal Metabolic Rate or BMR, Thermogenesis, and Exercise.
BMR is the rate at which your body uses energy while at rest to keep vital functions, such as breathing and your heart beating, working. Knowing your Basal Metabolic Rate is an important first step when trying to lose weight or to make sure that your body is getting the right amount of calories per
day. Thermogenesis is simply the energy your body expends to keep warm, and it burns a lot of calories doing it.
Once it has your BMR, the Calculator adds the average amount of calories you burn a day through exercise. If you do more exercise it means you need more calories. But, if you're sedentary (don't exercise regularly) you'll need to take in a smaller amount of calories in order to maintain weight, or to lose it.
The key to weight loss is to burn more calories than you take in. Knowing how many calories your body burns everyday, the calculator can then tell you the amount of calories you need to take in each day. It gives you the number of calories needed to reach three separate goals:
- To maintain your current weight.
- To lose a small amount of weight.
- To lose a more extreme amount of weight.
