Today I’m going to review a workout program I spotted being advertised online called My Bikini Belly by a Canadian lady called Shawna Kaminski. As always, here at Defend Your Health we like to look in detail at popular programs being marketed on the web to see if they’re actually credible or not. We do this by actually buying them and going through all the content (proof of purchase is below).
Most online reviewers don’t even take that key step!
The point of this is to give our readers an honest evaluation of what they can expect if they were make a purchase, and also to give our opinion on whether a particular program is worth the money or whether an alternative option is better for their needs.
I purchased the My Bikini Belly workout program a couple of days back for $37 and have now gone through all of the content. What follows is my opinion and results as a customer. I’ll cover the following:
- Does the program deliver on the promises made on the sales website?
- What do you actually get for your money? I cover this in great detail
- Are they any optional add-ons and do you need them?
- What is the quality of the material? (PDFs/videos etc) and is the author credible?
- Will the program actually work and provide results for the average user?
- Should you purchase in my opinion, or is there a more effective/better value option?

What Is Shawna’s ‘My Bikini Belly’ Workout Program and Who Is It For?
So this is one of the more ‘specific’ workout programs on the market currently. What I mean by that is the program is designed for a very specific customer who wants to achieve a certain result, rather than being a general weight loss product. It is for women over 35 who want to lose belly fat – the program and sales material mention the Menopause Belly quite often and this product was created as a solution.
The content is delivered in various videos and PDF documents which are all kept in an online member’s area. You basically follow along with the content and workouts for the 21 days, then continue on afterward. Later on in this review I’m going to take a very close look at what content you actually get for your money, so hold on for that.
What Does the Website Promise?
The main tagline mentions that by following Shawna Kaminski’s 3 week plan you will…
Visibly SEE A Flat And Firm Belly In Only 21 Days Without Starving Or Suffering Through Long Boring Workouts
The site also claims the program is suitable for all women 35+ (no matter how old) and that it doesn’t matter if you’re currently out of shape, have failed with weight loss before or don’t have much time to dedicate to working out.
I’ll be evaluating and reviewing this program based on those claims and results, as that’s what you’re sold on when making a purchase.
Who is The Author, Shawna Kaminski, and is She Credible?
The first thing I like to do when purchasing and workout or diet program is take a look at who has created it, what their credentials are and if they have any ‘real’ online verifiable presence. This is an important step when purchasing anything related to weight loss as many programs seem to be created by nobodys who don’t have any track record or real-world presence.
I was pleasantly surprised when researching Shawna.
She’s currently 52 years old and a well known former Canadian athlete and competitive fitness model with a number of titles to her name, including:
- National Canadian competitor in swimming & freestyle skiing
- Western Canadian Lightweight Bodybuilding Championship Winner
- Top 3 finisher in National Canadian Bodybuilding Championship for 3 years
- Two-time overall winner of ‘Toughest Calgarian Alive’
Shawna also owns the NW Fit Body Boot Camp gym in Calgary. It looks as though the program’s videos are actually filmed there – some of her Boot Camp clients take part in them to demonstrate different workouts.

So after a bit of research I was satisfied with Shawna’s credentials and ability to teach women over 35 about losing belly fat. As mentioned earlier, inside the actual program you get to see workout videos with clients inside her bootcamp gym as well, which in my opinion further adds to the trust-factor.
What You Actually Get When Purchasing The My Bikini Belly Program
Now I’m going to go into detail about what happens when you buy this program, including the content you’ll get access to and how the My Biniki Belly workouts and schedule actually look on a day-to-day basis.
Here’s the initial welcome screen inside the member’s area with a short but professional introduction video from Shawna. She basically re-iterates what to expect from the program and gives a few tips for getting the best results over the coming weeks.
The version of the course I purchased was My Bikini Belly 2.0 which is split up into 3 phases, which I’ll cover in a second. Firstly though let me explain the content a little more. First I’ll go over the PDF manuals, then the videos (which are the bulk of the program).
MBB PDF Manual #1 – Quick Start Guide
This is designed to get you started right away. Shawna outlines how and why the program works, along with what you need to be doing on a daily and weekly basis. She explains the 3 workout types which are: Bikini Belly Flush, Bikini Belly Burn and Bikini Belly Blast. Basically you’re alternating these over each 7 day period – doing one workout every other day. You start with Flush and end with Burn. They get progressively more difficult.
Also explained are other points such as how hard to train, recovery, hydration, what to do if you’re struggling and the importance of maintaining proper form when performing the exercises. At the end is a handy chart which you can use to track different body measurements as you progress through the program. Hopefully you’ll visibly see your before and after results, but tracking them is a good motivator as well.
MBB PDF Manual #2 – Workout Manual
This one tells you exactly which workout to do on each day, along with the specific exercises and numbers of sets/reps to perform. This is designed as a companion to the actual follow-along workout videos which I’ll cover later on in this program review.
The idea behind the manual is to provide you with a quick reference you can look at if you’re not able to watch the workout videos on a particular day for some reason. You’ll still know what you should be doing if you have access to this reference guide.
Warm-ups and cool-downs are also explained in the workout manual.
MBB PDF Manual #3 – Exercise Library Manual
This manual tells you exactly how to do all of the exercises required for each workout, along with a whole host of extra ones too. This guide includes written instructions and also photos so you’re able to see the correct form. There’s a lot of content here – around 45 pages.
Again, this manual is a companion to the follow-along workout videos where you see Shawna and her clients to doing the actual exercises. You can quickly check this manual for reference if you’re not sure how to do a specific exercise or just don’t want to watch a video at that time for some reason.
MBB PDF Manual #4 – Sculpt Series
The ‘Sculpt’ workouts are designed to be short and intense ways to finish the regular program workouts by adding on a few extra minutes at the end. These are used for anyone who wants to burn more calories, accelerate their fat loss results or just challenge themselves as much as possible.
This short manual explains how to use the Sculpt series to end your training sessions with one last burst of effort.
The 3 My Bikini Body Workout Phases
As mentioned before this program is split into 3 separate phases which you work through progressively. The PDFs I’ve just gone over are used during all phases and go hand-in-hand with the core workouts, which are delivered by follow-along videos. I’ll go into each phase in more detail shortly.
The MBB Workout Videos
Ok, so by now you’re probably wondering what the video workouts consist of, how they’re structured and what the quality is like etc.
Each phase (1, 2 & 3) has 3 detailed workout videos inside of it which you follow along with. These are between 15 – 20 minutes in length. The production is definitely of a high quality and I could tell a lot of time and effort has gone in to putting these videos together in a way that makes them 100% follow-along in nature.
The videos are structured like this:
Shawna talks through all of the exercises in each workout, while they are being performed by 3 female members of her team in Shawna’s gym. You get things explained to you as you’re doing them, but can also watch people doing them along with you.
The reason 3 people are completing the exercises together is to demonstrate how they should be done by people of varying levels of fitness and workout experience – beginner, intermediate and advanced.
I’ve never seen this in a workout program before. It is a great idea though and will anyone to follow along, regardless of their age or fitness situation. Just choose the level of difficulty which suits you and your level of experience.
In addition to the audio and visual instruction, each video has on-screen annotations with the exercises being performed, how many reps to do and also timers so you know when to switch to the next exercise. Here’s a screenshot of what one of the Phase 1, Workout A videos looks like in practice…
All videos can be either viewed online in the member area or downloaded. The formats you can choose are standard, high-definition or mobile friendly. I was extremely impressed by the quality of the video content – they’re all super-easy to follow.
During the 3 phases, 1, 2 & 3, you’ll be gradually building up the difficulty and intensity of the workouts you’re doing. The good thing though is that length of your workout time doesn’t change – it is always between 15-20 minutes.
Towards the latter stages of the program you start to add in ‘Super Sculpt’ sequences onto the end of your workouts. These last a few extra minutes but add quite a bit to the level of difficulty, and the number of calories you’ll burn.
The My Bikini Belly Exercises
Here are some examples of the exercises you’ll actually be doing in this program. Obviously I’m not going to list them all here and there are a lot more inside the program, but these will give you a very good idea of what to expect.
- Various kinds of squats
- Belly bends
- Various kinds of lunges
- Pull downs
- Leg lifts
- Mountain climbers
- Booty lift
Those are all bodyweight exercises which require no equipment, and which almost anyone can do. As mentioned before the workouts are structured so you’re doing varying amounts of sets and reps within different time periods, so after the 15 minutes are up you definitely feel like you’ve had a great workout. The combinations of exercises, sets and reps for each day are specifically put together by Shawna to aid the loss of belly fat.
If you don’t know what any of the exercises are you can clearly see how to do them in the videos, or refer to the instruction manual for written steps and pictures.
OK, so that covers everything you get in the main $37 course and is certainly enough for you to achieve results and have an effective plan to follow along with each week.
For people who want more there are some optional extras you can buy on top of the $37 core program. I looked at them, but didn’t buy the extras, as I wanted to review only what you purchase after going through the initial sales website. I wanted to see if purchasing just the core program is enough without the add-ons because with a lot of programs you really need to buy the extras to get results.
Happily though in this case the core $37 offer is definitely sufficient for you to do very well with the program. I felt I got good value for money with the PDFs, workout videos and step-by-step instructions to follow. Optional Add-Ons for The MBB Program
There are 3 different upgrades you can choose to buy after you’ve got the initial program. I looked in detail at what each of them include for the extra money but I did NOT buy the add-ons, just to be clear again about that 🙂
Optional Upgrade #1 – Organifi
This is a green powder/juice product called Organifi, which I’m actually already familiar with. It contains all kinds of super-foods, vitamins and minerals etc coming from organic natural foods. Organifi is similar to any other high quality green powder you’re probably familiar with already. The offer you get is to buy a 30-day supply at $69.97 + $6.95 shipping and handling. This is an OK deal.
Organifi obviously isn’t related to working out, but it can definitely aid fat loss as Shawna explains when you’re given the option to purchase. It is good for overall health and I imagine would improve your results if you drink it every day.
Optional Upgrade #2 – Fast Results Bundle
This is some extra training which teaches you how to get the fastest possible results from the program – apparently in half the time with something called the ‘5-minute Bikini Belly System’. If you want to buy this add-on the cost is $25 extra.
Basically it is a collection of extra strategies and workouts you can use to burn belly fat quicker.
Optional Upgrade #3 – Double Your Results Bundle
This upgrade is for the nutrition side of things. Shawna basically says you can double the results you get from the workouts by also following her Bikini Belly meal plans, diets and recipes. I imagine this is pretty true, as nutrition is very important, but I haven’t seen the My Bikini Belly diets or recipes in this upgrade. This added extra costs $27 more.
Based on the quality of information in the main workout program, this is probably a good buy if you’re needing help on the diet and nutrition side of losing weight. I think for many people they are comfortable with healthy eating and dieting though and would just need workouts, which the main $37 program obviously gives you already.
Concluding this Review of My Bikini Belly and Pros / Cons
Overall this is, in my opinion, one of the better weight loss programs on the market for women in their 30’s and older – especially if losing belly fat is a goal you have. Recently I reviewed another flat belly program called ‘Flat Belly Overnight’ which didn’t offer very good value or information at all, so I was pleasantly surprised when Shawna’s program turned out to be far, far better.
Shawna’s workouts are challenging and well put together. They also progress nicely week after week and are certainly enough to deliver results for anyone who follows through on the information.
In terms of the actual content I was impressed with the quality, and the effort that has gone in to the videos. A truly ‘follow-along’ program is very rare in this price range and the option to follow a beginner, intermediate or advanced instructor during your workouts is a very nice touch. This makes the program accessible to everyone I feel.
It is a little bit of a shame that no diet or meal plans are included in the core $37 purchase, but if you wanted those as well then they are available in the add-on for $27. Still, I would have very much liked to see at least something relating to eating for fat loss without needed to buy an upgrade. In fairness though the sales material makes it 100% clear that the main program is workouts only, so this wasn’t a surprise to me and I definitely feel like I got what I paid for with good value for my money.

- Designed specifically for women who want to lose belly fat. If you fall into this category then the program is a great fit, and a better choice than more generic weight loss courses.
- The author is a credible real-world person. Shawna’s achievements in fitness are impressive indeed. She also owns a real boot camp gym in Canada with real clients. This makes me confident in the fact she’s the real-deal, and not just an internet personality who will disappear in a month.
- High quality video content that is genuinely ‘follow-along’. That’s a rarity in fitness courses these days. The production quality and ease of use here is far better than I expected, or am used to.
- Easy to fit into your life, no matter how busy you are or what age you are. All workouts are bodyweight in nature requiring no equipment, last 15-20 minutes and can be done from anywhere. You an also choose your level of difficulty from 3 different options depending on your fitness levels or experience.
- As with all digital programs that are delivered via videos and PDFs there are always going to be people who prefer to receive hard-copy DVDs or physical books. This program is available online only, and all content is stored inside your members area. Everything is downloadable though – that includes mobile-friendly video formats.
- If you want diets, meal plans and recipes you need to buy one of the upgrades. This is made perfectly clear during the sales process, however I think it would of been a nice touch to add in some diet training to the main program.
As you can tell this review is overwhelmingly positive. I’d have no hesitations in recommending Shawna’s product to any woman in her 30’s wanting to lose belly fat, or lose weight in general to be honest.
You’ll get results if you follow this program and for $37 the value for money is certainly there.

If wanted to try a different program instead, the first thing I’d recommend you look at is a program called Old School New Body. It is a full nutrition and workout program for both men and women over 30 who want to get in shape as well as look and feel 10 years younger again. It was created by an editor of Iron Man Magazine, but isn’t about bodybuilding at all.
The next recommendation would probably be Wes Virgin’s program called Fat Diminisher. That is more diet focuses and has a lot of success stories of women in their late 30’s and much older.
