Body Beast Workout Reviews: What Is Body Beast?

Body Beast is becoming a popular workout for gaining muscle and cutting out the fat. But what exactly is it? We’ve compiled a number of reviews to give you a better understanding to help you decide whether or not this program is right for you.

Truth of Building Muscle

Truth of Building Muscle offers its take on Body Beast.

Body Beast Workout Review: An Introduction

The P90X and Insanity were very good for what they set out to do (even though they were somewhat overpriced), but Body Beast falls short of their counterparts.

The people who make these products generally don’t care about your fitness, they just care about their bottom line. Below you’ll see the good and the bad about the Body Beast workout.

Who Developed The Body Beast Workout?

The developer of the program is Sagi Kalev, who is originally from Israel and later moved to the United States. Kalev won the Mr. Israel title on two occasions.

For one thing, he is using quality creatine and whey proteins. But you can attain the kind of physique Kalev has by training and eating properly.

So What Is The Body Beast Program? How Long Does It Last For?

The body beast workout program is set up to last 90 days. You can do the program at home or in a gym. Most of the exercises you do are done with a barbell and dumbbells.

There are three different “blocks” during the 90 day program divided into one month apiece:

  • Build
  • Bulk
  • Beast

The problem with this is that muscle is built over the course of a number of years rather than just a few months. You are fooling yourself if you think otherwise.

“Discouraged And Disappointed”

As just previously discussed, it takes awhile to build muscle. If you think you will get ripped in just a few months, you will be “discouraged and disappointed” in your results.

While you will get some muscle, it is miniscule compared to what you can get with regular diet and exercise.

Does Body Beast Actually Work?

While it’s not the best, it’s also not terrible. There’s no question the exercises could be improved. Most of the people looking to get Body Beast are beginners.

Beginners will grow muscle fairly rapidly, though not as fast as three months, as your body is not accustomed to resistance training.

Claims of a Secret

Body Beast contends it has found a secret in building muscle throughout your body, but there really is no secret all.

Nothing has changed in terms of building strength in muscle. As the song goes, “The song remains the same.”

The program in Body Beast works for people who already have a good, solid foundation of muscle, which does no service for beginners.

What Training Split The Program Uses?

If you are not familiar with splits in weight training, this means how you will be dividing your workout.

  • 1-day – you will be working out your entire body in one session.
  • 2-day – you will be working out your body in two separate sessions

Body Beast are 5-day splits divided out over the course of one week.

  • Shoulders
  • Arms
  • Legs
  • Chest
  • Back

The Body Beast’s Exercise Choices

The exercises are pretty straight forward:

  • Squats
  • Deadlifts
  • Dumbbell presses

This is followed by several other exercises. There are also what’s called pre-fatigue sets. If you’re a beginner and don’t know what those are, don’t do them!

The Equipment You Will Need

This program is designed for both going to the gym and working out at home. If you decide to stay at home, here is what you will need:

  • Barbell
  • Dumbbells
  • Curling Bar
  • Free Weights
  • Bench (adjustable)

Nutritional Needs

The Beach Body products have the goal of calculating your Basal metabolic rate, or BMR, using what is called the Harris-Benedict Formula. This means increasing your caloric intake with 500 more calories.

The one problem we go back to throughout this review is that they guarantee great results in as little as three months, which is nearly impossible to do.

Another thing which we don’t understand is after two months the program seeks to get rid of extra fat for one month, given the Body Beast program is specifically designed to build muscle

What Body Beast Costs

Here’s what Body Beast costs:

  • Body Beast – $39.90
  • Shipping and Handling – $9.95

There are other things Beach Body tries to sell you, including other workout programs and Shakeology. Your bill could end up being in excess of $100.

Body Beast: Also For Women

Men are the main target for Body Beast, but women can gain a great deal when they follow the nutritional guidelines in the program.

Many women are concerned that strength training will make them look too masculine, a goal they certainly don’t want to achieve.

The fact of the matter is women don’t have the DNA to look like that. The ones that look built are “enhanced.”

Body Beast Review: The Moves and Progressions

Body Beast uses a conventional weight lifting program unlike its competitor, P90X. Most of the moves should be familiar with anybody who has lifted weights in the past. This includes the following:

  • Bench presses
  • Shoulder presses
  • Arm curls
  • Tricep extensions

What might be new is these set progressions, also known as Dynamic Set Training. These are reps and sets which keeps muscle tense for a certain amount of time and bring in as much muscle fiber as possible. It also increases one’s testosterone.

Exercise Progressions: Types of Sets

  • Singles: Just one exercise
  • Super: Two exercises without rest in between
  • Giant: Three exercises done in a row that target the same muscle area

  • Multi-sets: Three exercises which go after different muscle areas
  • Force: Five sets with five reps each. 10 seconds of reps in between each set.

  • Progressive: Start with high reps with light weight then moving to short reps with heavier reps. A short break then going in reverse.

  • Combo: Any exercises that work multiple muscle groups using multiple joints.
  • Circuit: Going from exercise to exercise with little to no rest
  • Tempo: When you hold a contraction for a certain time

Why Do This?

You want to keep your body on the edge. This will help to keep your body adapting to various changes.

Body Beast Review: The Nutrition Guide

Your results are 60 percent dependent on nutrition. Too many people when trying to bulk up is that they go too far with bulking up.

But the nutrition guide that comes with Body Beast helps ensure that doesn’t happen. It gives you charts for portions, lists of food to eat, a calorie counter and gives you a lists of supplements to try.

Problems With Body Beast

The Body Beast workout program isn’t very good for people who aren’t well-versed in exercise routines, even though it’s targeted to beginners.

Furthermore, the Body Beast program also requires a fair amount of equipment for you to be successful. This can end up being fairly expensive.

In Conclusion

Body Beast can be a very useful program for you if you are looking to bulk up, but you should be mindful that results will take longer than three months.
